At its core, TransSec is an EU project which aims to develop autonomous systems to detect and prevent the vehicle-based terror attacks which have been on the rise in Europe, with the Bastille Day attack in Nice, France in 2016 a particularly tragic example.
The TransSec project kicked off in February of 2018 in Prague, Czech Republic. The Consortium consists of a mix of research groups, universities and commercial entities. The group as a whole is a strong blend of transport industry knowledge, research innovators and experts in communications technologies.
At the kick-off meeting, the strategies for the project were discussed by leading members of the project team from each organisation in the consortium, with timelines and project structure discussed. Over the coming months, the project will begin to kick into gear, with the teams across Europe working in cooperation.
