Daimler Trucks Advanced Engineering is a globally-organised unit, and is working on innovative technologies for trucks. Work focuses, among others, are advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving. Recent public demonstrations of autonomous and connected trucks in Europe and USA include Future Truck 2025, Inspiration Trucks and Highway Pilot have been developed and prepared by Advanced Engineering. A platoon of three Mercedes-Benz Highway Connect trucks participated in the European Truck Platooning Challenge, with the destination Rotterdam.
Daimler is the initiator and coordinator of the TransSec project, providing the project idea and outline of the solution approach, which is a joint effort which integrates expertise and contributions from all partners. Daimler’s lead functions are Project Coordinator, Project Management, and Autonomous Emergency Manoeuvring to prevent intentional crashes.
